HIV

HIVThe Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that that attacks the body's immune system and can lead to Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). However, specialists now prefer to use the terms advanced or late-stage HIV infection.

Some people living with HIV don’t become ill for many years so you may not know if you have the virus. If you think you have put yourself at risk of HIV you can have an HIV test at a genito-urinary clinic. An early diagnosis can mean the treatment is more effective.
